Ugo Rondinone

Ugo Rondinone, an artist recognized in the contemporary art world, was born on November 30, 1964, in Brunnen, Switzerland. He studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna from 1986 to 1990. He currently lives and works in New York. ​ Rondinone's art incorporates various media, including painting, sculpture, photography, and video. His works explore themes such as nature, the human condition, and the passage of time. He is particularly known for his colorful and large-scale sculptures. His temporary installation "Seven Magic Mountains" (2016–2021), near Las Vegas, consists of seven large, brightly painted, stacked stones, each 9.8 meters high. ​ The artist won Switzerland's Eidgenössischer Preis für freie Kunst awards in 1991, 1994, and 1995. In 2007, he represented Switzerland at the 52nd Venice Biennale. ​
