Tomás Sánchez

Tomás Sánchez is a Cuban painter and engraver born on May 22, 1948. His art features elements such as serene forests, water landscapes, and sometimes large mountains of garbage. Recognized as one of Cuba's most expensive living painters, Sánchez received his art education at the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts in Havana and graduated from the National Art School in 1971. He launched his international career in 1980 by winning the Joan Miró International Drawing Prize. His works typically use a strong visual language that often includes social commentary alongside natural landscapes.
