Sophia Vari

Sophia Vari (October 9, 1940 – May 5, 2023), was a Colombian painter, sculptor, and jewelry designer of Greek origin. Born in Athens to a Greek father and a Hungarian mother, she spent her early childhood in Switzerland, followed by education in England and France. She began her artistic career with painting, later moving into sculpture and jewelry design. Her work was influenced by Mayan, Egyptian, Olmec, and Cycladic art traditions, as well as ancient and Baroque aesthetics. Her pieces have been exhibited in numerous museums and galleries worldwide, notably with twelve monumental sculptures on Park Avenue in New York. She passed away in Monaco in 2023.
