Sebastiaan Knot
Sebastiaan Knot is a visual artist born in Groningen, Netherlands, in 1970 and currently living in Rotterdam. He began his art career at the age of 19 and has worked in photography, graphic design, and web design for approximately 30 years. In 2000, he founded his own photography studio and in recent years has focused entirely on his personal artistic projects. Knot's art explores the relationships between color and form, using light as a fundamental material. In his studio, he creates scenes by illuminating simple shapes with different colored lights and then photographs these compositions. In this process, he creates abstract compositions that challenge the viewer's perception of space through the play of light and shadow, without using digital manipulation. Inspired by the "Light and Space" movement of the 1960s and artists like James Turrell, Knot invites the viewer to a sensory experience beyond the physical world. His works are included in institutional collections such as the Maasstad Hospital in the Netherlands, as well as private collections.
