Rafa Macarrón

Rafa Macarrón, born in Madrid in 1981, is a self-taught Spanish artist. He lives in Madrid. The artist is known for his works adorned with vibrant colors, surrealist influences, and playful figuration. In his works, thanks to his anatomical knowledge, he creates elongated and curved figures with exaggerated features. He studied physiotherapy and participated in professional cycling races. Due to his interest in art, he turned to painting at the age of 25 and became self-taught. In 2011, he won the BMW Painting Prize and was selected as the best artist at the ARCO art fair in Madrid in 2013. His works have been acquired by prestigious museums such as MoMA and the Guggenheim. He has also held solo exhibitions at galleries such as Allouche Gallery and Lio Malca Gallery. The artist continues to make the viewer think and emotionally impact them.
