Peter Kogler
Peter Kogler is a media artist born in Innsbruck, Austria, in 1959. He lives and continues his artistic work in Vienna. The artist began producing his first computer-aided works in 1986 and gained international recognition in this field. Kogler creates illusionistic installations that transform the perception of rooms and spaces, affecting the viewer with repeating drawings, computer animations, and video projections. Using repetitive motifs such as ants, brains, spheres, and pipelines in his works, he invites the viewer on a contemplative journey. He particularly drew attention with his work "Ants" exhibited at documenta IX in 1992. Peter Kogler was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna starting in 1993 and headed the Department of New Media from 1997. The artist combines technology and art in his works to encourage the viewer to question their perception of space and time.
