Michelangelo Pistoletto
Michelangelo Pistoletto, born on June 23, 1933, in Biella, Italy, is a prominent figure in contemporary art. In the 1960s, he gained recognition for his mirror paintings, which made the viewer a part of the artwork. Works such as "Venus of the Rags" (1967) and "Rag Wall" (1967) contributed to his status as a leading figure in the Arte Povera movement. In 1996, he founded Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, spearheading projects aimed at uniting art and society. Pistoletto has received numerous awards throughout his career, including a lifetime achievement award at the Venice Biennale in 2003. He continues to live and create in Biella.
