Michaela Yearwood-Dan, born in London in 1994, is a British artist. Her work adopts a multidisciplinary approach, encompassing paintings, works on paper, ceramics, and site-specific wall and sound installations. In her art, she explores themes such as Blackness, queer identity, femininity, and healing rituals, aiming to connect viewers with feelings of community, abundance, and joy. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Brighton in 2016. Throughout her career, she has held solo exhibitions at galleries such as Tiwani Contemporary and QUEERCIRCLE in London. Her works have also been exhibited at Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York. Yearwood-Dan's works are adorned with vibrant colors and abstract forms, inviting the viewer on both a visual and emotional journey. She establishes a deep connection with the audience by incorporating texts such as personal writings and song lyrics into her art. In 2022, she was an artist-in-residence at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen, and in 2023, she presented her exhibition "Some Future Time Will Think of Us" at the Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York. Yearwood-Dan's works offer pieces that are shaped by her personal experiences and cultural heritage, prompting viewers to think and feel.
