Josh Sperling

Josh Sperling was born in 1984 in Oneonta, New York. The artist grew up in a creative family; his grandfather was a sculptor, and his father worked as an art teacher. Sperling's interest in art was shaped at a young age by artists such as MC Escher and Roy Lichtenstein. In 2006, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from SUNY Potsdam. Sperling's art draws from the minimalist painting approach of the 1960s and 1970s. The artist is known for his shaped canvases and vibrant color palette. Inspired by design and art history, he creates works that blur the lines between painting and sculpture. In this respect, he goes beyond traditional art understandings and creates an innovative language. Throughout his career, Sperling's works have been featured in many prestigious collections worldwide. His works have been exhibited in important institutions such as the Arsenal Contemporary Art in Montreal, the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, and the Rockbund Art Museum in Shanghai. Sperling has collaborated with Galerie Perrotin to organize numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally.
