Jorinde Voigt

Jorinde Voigt, born on January 19, 1977, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, is a Berlin-based contemporary artist. Before embarking on her art education, she studied philosophy and literature at Georg-August University, and subsequently earned her master's degree in Visual Culture Studies at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), where she was a student of Katharina Sieverding. Voigt is particularly known for her large-scale drawings and develops complex notation systems derived from music, philosophy, and phenomenology in her work. By creating her own visual language, she translates phenomena such as melodies and literature into visual and aesthetic dimensions. Through delicate pencil lines and notations, she expresses cognitive processes within an artistic system. From 2014 to 2019, she served as a faculty member at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, and currently holds the position of Professor of Conceptual Drawing and Painting at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg. Voigt's works have been featured in numerous significant exhibitions worldwide. For instance, in 2012, her solo exhibition titled "Jorinde Voigt: Systematic Notations" was held at the Nevada Museum of Art.
