John Copeland

John Copeland (b. 1976, California, USA – d. 2024, New York, USA) is a contemporary American painter. He began his art career in 1998, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the California College of Arts and Crafts (now known as California College of the Arts). ​ Copeland's work explores the ambiguous relationship between abstraction and figuration. The artist has chosen to work at the boundaries of abstraction, using the language of painting to investigate the interplay of paint, images, and textures. ​ Throughout his career, he has had solo exhibitions at prestigious galleries such as V1 Gallery in Copenhagen and JD Malat Gallery in London. His works have been exhibited in international venues including Copenhagen, Bologna, Zurich, New York, Leipzig, and most recently, the Newport Street Gallery in London. ​
