Jens Fänge

Jens Fänge is an artist born in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1965, and currently lives in Stockholm. He studied at the Valand Academy of Fine Arts in Gothenburg from 1989-1994. Fänge has developed a "matryoshka doll"-like aesthetic in his works, combining early 20th-century collage practice with traditional shadow play. This approach allows him to create surreal compositions through the technique of painting within a painting. Since the mid-1990s, the artist has regularly exhibited in galleries and institutions. His works have been shown in prestigious galleries such as Perrotin (Paris, Hong Kong, New York) and Galleri Magnus Karlsson (Stockholm).
