Fong Chung-Ray

Fong Chung-Ray (b. 1933) is one of the leading figures of modern Chinese painting. Born in Henan, China, he emigrated to Taiwan in 1949. He continued his artistic endeavors in Taiwan and in 1958, co-founded the "Four Seas Artists Association" with Hu Chi-Chung. In 1961, at the invitation of Liu Guosong, he joined the "Fifth Moon Painting Society". In his art, he combined traditional Chinese painting techniques with abstract expressions. In 1975, he settled in the United States and lives in San Francisco.
