Bin Woo Hyuk
Bin Woo Hyuk, born in Seoul in 1981, is a distinguished painter who shaped his artistic practice between Berlin and Seoul after his education at Seoul National University. The artist approaches landscape painting not merely as a physical depiction of nature, but as a reflection of personal memory and psychological states. Especially in his works featuring forests and parks, he uses the atmospheric effects of light and shadow to offer the viewer a melancholic yet tranquil inner sanctuary. Hyuk's works serve as an aesthetic response to modern humanity's disconnection from nature and are held in important collections such as the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA). Currently continuing his work between Seoul and Berlin, the artist is developing a more minimalist approach to the silence of nature and the flow of time at this stage of his career. Collaborating with pioneering institutions such as Gallery Baton, Hyuk has adopted a language closer to abstraction in his recent exhibitions, focusing on the feeling evoked by the landscape rather than its details. The artist continues his productions, which invite his audience to a meditative experience, while contributing to the visibility of Asian contemporary art in Europe.
