André Butzer
André Butzer, born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1973, is a German painter. His art blends European Expressionism with American pop culture, creating a unique universe he calls "Science Fiction-Impressionism."
Butzer's works frequently feature figures inspired by cartoon characters, with large eyes, oversized heads, and white gloves. These figures resonate with viewers, reflecting both the innocence of childhood and an artificial lifelessness.
In 1997, he founded Akademie Isotrop in Hamburg, where he developed his artistic practice. The artist has collaborated with prestigious galleries such as Kestner Gesellschaft and Carbon 12, and his works are included in important collections such as MOCA Los Angeles and LACMA.
