Adam Pendleton
Adam Pendleton (b. 1984, Richmond, Virginia) is a contemporary American conceptual artist. His work is a multidisciplinary approach that includes painting, silkscreen, collage, video, performance, and writing. In his art, he explores issues of history and identity through the re-contextualization of language and images. In his "Black Dada Manifesto," published in 2008, he developed "Black Dada" as a conceptual framework examining the relationships between Blackness, abstraction, and the avant-garde. Pendleton's works have been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the New Museum. In 2021-2022, he presented a large-scale installation exhibition titled "Who Is Queen?" at MoMA. In 2024, he was honored with the Rosenthal Family Foundation Painting Award by the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He currently continues to live and work in New York.
