AHMET YEŞİL

AHMET YEŞİL

Born in Mersin in 1954, Ahmet Yeşil studied painting in the workshops of painters Nuri Abaç and İlhan Çevik and sculptor Ernür Tüzün between 1973 and 1985, and has emerged as one of the most important figures in Turkish painting with his long-standing artistic production. The artist, who continues his work in Mersin, has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in national and international exhibitions and art fairs. Rhythm, movement, and surface relation play a decisive role in Ahmet Yeşil's paintings. He establishes a dynamic visual language with recurring linear structures and strong use of color, especially in his compositions developed around rope, knot, and curve forms. This formal structure creates both an abstract and a lyrical expression in the artist's works. The artist brings out the sense of light, balance, and flow in his paintings, transforming the surface into a lively area. Layered paint use and a rhythmic order are among the fundamental characteristics that show continuity in Ahmet Yeşil's paintings. Having opened numerous exhibitions throughout his long artistic career and whose works are featured in various private collections and corporate structures, Ahmet Yeşil continues his work in his workshop in Mersin.
